Airport transfers, accommodation, mountain drop off/pick up points, equipment hire and snow/climbing advice from the people who live here. Snow guarantee. Sun almost guaranteed. Compare this and our prices to an equivalent stay in Scotland! So why come here? (more information ….)

Snow conditions: reliable winter climbing from mid-December until the end of April.
Flexibility: Any duration, any start date!
Weather: 100% snow guarantee. 90% chance of sun as well!
Accommodation: in comfortable apartments in Lanjaron, conveniently placed about 1hrs drive from both the main northern and southern approaches to the range. Airport transfer is 2hrs drive. There are bars, restaurants and a disco within 3 minutes walk of the accommodation.
Food and drink: prices at least half that of the UK. Andalucia is also one of the few places in Spain providing free tapas with all alcoholic drinks!
Winter climbing: with 27 – 3,000m+ peaks the area is not lacking. Harder climbs are to be found on the north faces of Veleta, Mulhacen, Los Machos and Alcazaba. Climbs are of exploratory nature and its quite common to be in complete isolation on the climbs.
Mountain Huts: 1 very modern guarded hut with 84 beds (Poqueira Refugio). Otherwise there are many unguarded huts in the mountains. We can advise on suitability.
Travel: Lanjaron is about 5.5 hrs away from London and 6 hrs away from Leeds (Fort William about 9hrs from London and 6 hrs from Leeds, traffic permitting!)
Recommended map: Editorial Alpina Mapa Excursionista y Turistico, Sierra Nevada La Alpujarra, Escala 1:40,000
Costs: Take advantage of cheap winter mid-week flights to Malaga from most UK airports.

“Great week! Home safe and sound. Enjoyed our dealings/meeting with people in your team. Nice scene I like informal, but reliable..good. So thanks! Have a feeling will certainly be seeing you again. ” Felix Jackson, Donegal Mountain Rescue Team, Feb 08

This great climbing venue is still relatively unknown in the UK. The area provides a fantastic alternative to Scotland with much more chance of that magical combination of snow and sun! We would welcome any feed back from climbers who have visited the area and have tried out any of the climbs.

“I just wanted to say thanks for making our trip to Spain such an enjoyable one. I really felt you did what you could to make our trip a success” (Tom Margrain, South Wales Mountaineering Club, Jan 06)
