From here make an abseil or steep downclimb into the Veredon Superior, the key to the Corral de Veleta.<br />
<span style="font-family:Arial;">The Paso de las Monteses is the col between the upper part of the <a title="Lanchar Ridge Climb" href="http://spanishhighs.wordpress.com/2008/06/27/veta-grande-2981m-via-lanchar-ridge/" target="_self">Lanchar Ridge</a> and the <a title="Cerro de los Machos NE ridge" href="http://spanishhighs.wordpress.com/2008/06/27/cerro-de-los-machos-3329m-ne-ridge/" target="_self">NE ridge</a> leading to Cerro de los Machos. From here one can drop down into the Valdeinfierno valley to make a fine traverse.</span></span></div>

1st Ascent &#8211; 8th December 1969 Jose Guardia Olmedo/Francisco Olmedo RoelasAccess via Guejar Sierra and Verada de la Estrella. The ridge is situated on the left side of the Rio Valdeinfierno. The first third of the ridge is easy. The second has an average angle of 60 deg and rock section of III. The last third of the ridge is level but a section of rock V is by passed on the right. Either descend left (Valdeinfiernos) or right (Corral de Veleta) or complete the upper section of <a title="Cerro de los Machos NE ridge" href="http://spanishhighs.wordpress.com/2008/06/27/cerro-de-los-machos-3329m-ne-ridge/" target="_self">Cerro de los Machos NE ridge</a>. </p>
<p>N.B This is a long mountaineering route. Descents are long and hard!</p>

From here make an abseil or steep downclimb into the Veredon Superior, the key to the Corral de Veleta.<br />

<div><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Climb &#8211; This route forms a natural line between the Corral del Veleta and the Corral del Valdeinfierno and crosses the upper part of the <a title="Lanchar Ridge Climb" href="http://spanishhighs.wordpress.com/2008/06/27/veta-grande-2981m-via-lanchar-ridge/" target="_self">Lanchar Ridge</a>. After descending the Veredon Superior slopes of average angle 65° will be met on the route. The Veta Grande forms an extraordinary viewpoint showing the whole range from the Puntal de Vacares to Veleta. Descents are long and hard from here!</span></div>
